Label System: Defining Substitution Levels
To reduce the risk of technical evaluation, we’ve drawn on industry-standard evaluation criteria to classify alternative parts into four clear levels, each identified by a color-coded label:
Alt. Packaging (Green Label): The component itself is identical. The only differences are the packaging method (e.g., Tape & Reel vs. Tube) or packaging quantity.
Direct (Green Label): Key specifications closely match, making the part theoretically suitable as a pin-to-pin, drop-in replacement.
Upgrade (Yellow Label): Core specifications match, while the alternative offers better performance in certain areas, such as a wider operating temperature range, higher voltage ratings, or greater precision.
Similar (Yellow Label): Core specifications match, but some secondary specifications differ. We recommend checking the datasheet to verify whether the part is suitable for your application.
Operational Steps: From Search to Cart in Three Steps
The tool is designed to simplify the process and help you find and purchase an alternative in just three steps:
1. Search by MPN: Enter the complete Manufacturer Part Number (MPN).
2. Compare Specifications: The results show potential alternative parts. Compare multiple specifications side by side, with values that match the original part automatically highlighted so differences are easy to spot. You can also select multiple parts for a more detailed comparison.
3. Choose an Alternative: Once you’ve confirmed the specifications, view real-time stock and tiered pricing directly on the page, then add the part to your cart.
How to Access the Tool
We’ve provided several convenient entry points:
1. Homepage & Navigation Bar: Find the tool under “Tools” in the top navigation bar or in a prominent location on the LCSC homepage.
2. Search & Product Pages: When viewing a product, you can jump directly to the full Cross-Reference Tool with a single click.
Important Note
Cross-reference results provided by LCSC are for reference only. Because electronic design requires precise specifications, we recommend reviewing the alternative part’s datasheet and verifying all relevant specifications before finalizing your selection to ensure that the part meets your specific design requirements.
